Engine won't start

So I recently disconnected my battery from my car to fix my headlight motor, for a while the sound of the car starting seemed to be dampened. well when I plugged the terminal back in and for some reason afterward whenever I'd start the car and kept it in park it would rev to 2K rpm and slowly work back down but when I shift it went to idle rpm's. Well late tonight I try to start the car and it just clicks. One singular click, and nothing else. I tried jumping it but it still wouldn't do anything. I checked the battery gauge and it's center at 13V. I checked all the spark plug caps and they all seem to be secure. Any idea what's could be wrong with my car?

Re: Engine won't start

*UPDATE* I know it's either the solenoid switch or the starter motor, should I just buy the solenoid or go all out for the whole motor?
