Running like a pile of poo when warm.

I've been having this issue for a while when ever the car warms up a bit it starts to have a real bad hesitation if you step on it hard, it will even die if you don't let off the gas quick enough. Its also getting real bad gas mileage..... and at this point with gas prices the car is basically parked. Id love to get it back on the road again! any one got any suggestions?

oops BTW its a 1988 GTA with the 350 TPI

CTS (coolant temp sensor) will cause that problem. Does it run find when cold? After its warm and you shut it off, does it restart easily?
----------
It could be the MAF sensor also but, replace the CTS 1st because they are cheap and the MAF sensor is not.

The CTS is located on the front(vertical) of the intake next to the fan switch and below the coolant fitting that the hose goes to the TB.

Re: Running like a pile of poo when warm.

i actually just replaced the MAF because it was throwing a code, but the problem continued after i did. I have replaced cts when i first bought the car, im wondering if its the cheap carquest part that went bad already.
the car easily starts up every single time even after it dies. when its cold it runs great, just when it warms up it has a real bad hesitation when i step on the gas hard.

I would try another CTS and go from there.

well i replaced it and it seems a bit better, i still have a slight hesitation, but the car did sit for a long time and could have some dirty injectors or bad gas, im going to drive it around for a few days and see how the mileage is.

Run some injector cleaner thru it also. I had a 91 Formula that sat for awhile and could not get it to start without starter fluid(for a second or 2) long story short(hours of trouble shooting and reading manuals), I tapped all the injectors and then she fired right up.

Re: Running like a pile of poo when warm.

You could try that.

It could be the TPS is not adjusted right or going bad.

Could also be the IAC motor or a timing issue.
