Re: alternator trouble help

ehh, if u took it off and got it tested and it passed, it means nothing, because i had an alternator checked out at kragens then i put it in my car and when i hooked up the multimeter to the back of the alternator and the negative battery terminal it said it was not charging. so dont listen to kragens or wherever u took it too, bottom line is it isnt charging right? im just saying put it on the car and check with the multimeter

Re: alternator trouble help

If you are using the LT1 alternator you may need to power up the "L" terminal to enable teh internal regulator. Usually, the PCM does that, but not if the wire harness is not present or if it has been programmed out.

Re: alternator trouble help

if the test came back good then its good. idk where you took it to get tested but i know that at Advance auto parts they do a good test on them. i work at one and test them all the time. if it shows its putting out volts then its good. they can check the diodes to.
