Re: i need ur help guys!

id be thinking dipstick or oil pan. going to have to just keep cleaning it, letting it run and checking again until you can tell where it comes from

Re: i need ur help guys!

It's "Only" on the passenger side of the car? Could be the oil-pan as 19Doug90 says. It could also be the rear-main seal. HOw bad of a leak? Is it really "wet" when you clean it off or is it sort of covered in grime...as a slow leak would probably show up?

I'd get a new dipstick, The tube could have a hole in it I've had that happen before, I don't think you should be able to move it around and pull it out with no effort, I had to tap mine in with a rubber hammer.

Re: i need ur help guys!

ok i cant get a diff dipstick there all the same thickness as the stock one. i was looking at my starter and noticed to bolt holes above the starter. one was grimmy and on looked like new steel. i put a bolt in it can that be were oil is draining from? i checked pan and everywhere on motor no trace of the leak.... i dunno where else to look... any thoughts?

You don't want one that's a different thickness. Yours has come loose, something it shouldn't have done so a new one, even the same size, should go in and be tight. They are only held in by a roughed up patch of metal on the bottom of the dipstick. If that wore out, as yours seems to have done, it could cause oil to creep up. I suggest you get under there iwth a pressure sprayer and hose the hole thing down to clean it up so you have a fresh reference point. Then start the engine and run it. Does it leak when it's idling or only when you drive it? Are you sure it's oil or could it be trans fluid? Have you ever over-heated your engine block? I mean like, really overheated it?

Re: i need ur help guys!

FYI...

I have had leaks from the rear 'china wall'/distributor/oil pressure sending unit and the oil runs down the back of the block and off the sides of the bellhousing. Usually makes quite a mess that appears to be a valvecover leak but isnt!

Just something else to check...

the china walls are dry as is the back of block. it wont leak until i drive it i let it idle for 10 minutes and no leaks... im starting to think its leaking behind starter on the pan... its blowing all over my new exhaust and covering my starter.

Re: i need ur help guys!

like was said your best bet is to just keep cleaning the oil off, and then drive a little, check again, and repeat until its obvious where its coming from, really its gotta either be coming from the front/side of the oil pan or the dipstick tube.

just clean it and drive it like half way down the street and back, then check and see if its more obvious

my oil dipstick doesnt stay in place either it slides right out, but ive never had a leak there.

Re: i need ur help guys!

well if you just put a new pan on id be willing to bet dollars to pay thats where your problem is.

pretty general rule is you replace something, then have a problem right after, theres something wrong with the work you did. If the bolts arent loose id drop the pan and make sure the seal is good
