I don't know about the second but your first problem is the same one I have been having. I am chalking it up to heat soak but the other day when I was under there I noticed that one of the starter wires wasn't attached properly. It seems that perhaps sometime in the past the wire broke and whoever fixed it (wasn't me), stripped it back and crimped a new terminal lug on it...only problem is they only got half the wire. So I re-did the connection. Since I am swapping motors, I haven't seen if this is a good fix or not but I highly recommend that you check both your battery cables for good connections and pull your starter wires from the starter and inspect those. If they all appear to be in good order, then I suggest maybe replacing your solenoid and/or starter. IF that still doesn't fix it...then you got a doozy of a problem...and so do I! lol
