Won't Start When Hot, Replaced Battery and Wires please help!
Ok So i have a 1988 Formula 350.
I recently put the battery in the trunk area, where the little door thing is.
The car will start when the motors not warm but once i shut the car off and try to start it again the car won't start. It sounds like its trying to but its cranking it way to slow.
When the battery was up front it would turn over every time with no problem and the car would run great.
I don't know if this would help its what i've done.
2 Gauge wire to the front of the car for the positive
4 Gauge wire going to one of the bolts that hold the hatch motor assembly in place for the ground
Optima Red Top battery
Maybe i messed it up doing this, the first time i switched my Bosch battery to the Optima i accidentally connected the ground wire to the positive terminal and the positive wire to the negative terminal.
The wires got really hot and i blew the fuse in my radio and i've been having this starting problem, i thought maybe i fried the cables so i changed them both and the battery.
Yesterday i tried starting it again and it started up but then didn't once it got warm. So i was thinking maybe if i changed the wires that are spliced into my 2 gauge positive in the engine compartment?
Any help would be good because i cant drive it till this is fixed, well i can but i can't shut off the car. Thanks alot.

Re: Won't Start When Hot, Replaced Battery and Wires please help!
Theirs a few things that can cause these symptoms...
First things first i would have the battery checked. If the engine is running alot of initial timing they can be hard to star when hot too.
Have the starter checked. My car originally had a starter for a manual transmission which gave it lots of clearance for the headers (alot smaller starter) but just didnt have the power to start it whe it was hot. A proper auto stlye starter cured it and has more than enough jam to crank it but its very close to the header, Heat kills!
