First car, suggestions/help?
Hey everyone, about 3 days ago I purchased an 88' IROC for $6,000. It is in mint condition and it has a 305 and hooker headers and a nice exhaust set up by lou's custom exhaust. Now, I am looking for some big performance upgrades because the performance factor just isnt there. If you need any additional info, just ask and I will post. Thanks. Oh yea, heres some pics, I didn't take them though, previous owner did.

The car looks nice, you seem to want some power to back up that look, so definitely go with the 350 upgrade. Also, if you can swing it, go with an LS1 setup. That might actually give you some MPG savings as well.
Assuming you can keep the gas petal off the floor long enough to get a savings.

id start over with a 350, no offense to anyone but you can build more power with them in the long run

Re: First car, suggestions/help?
If you don't want to get a 350 right away, a few good bolt ons you could do that will fit a 350 as well as a 305 are:
K&N filter/ cold air intake
MSD Blaster Coil
MSD Digital 6 or 6AL
Better Spark Plug and wires (8.5mm or bigger)
If it's tpi and you want to stick with that setup, you could get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator for it too.
You could always get a shif kit for the transmission too. I've heard some people have gotten good results out a sonnax tv cable corrector spring too, for firmer shifts. Those things are like $5 so you might as well try it.
Other than that, the other guys are right on. It just depends on what you want to do/have time for/have money for.

Re: First car, suggestions/help?
id turn it into a carburated engine first...
go with an intake manifold, a carburator, aftermarket hei distributor, and a cam...
all that stuff i just mentioned you can drop in a 350 later on.. see what you get out of the 305 . if you are not happy just transfer the parts from your 305 to your new 350.
