heads 081 vs 083

Need some sugestions. I am rebuilding a l98, has new rings bearings cam 232/234 with 488 lift, shorty headers edelbrock rpm and holley 600cfm also using stock l98 pistons. question is i have a set of both 081 and 083 heads both ported and polished stock valve size, what would you guys use? I have steel shim head gaskets i want to use as well as a 150 shot of NOS. it will be a once or twice a week driver.

the 083 350 heads are 1.94 with a 64cc and the 081 305's are 184s and 58cc.

083 heads flow better and wont kill your wallet. 081 heads will raise compression way too high for the street.

I also wouldn't be worried about 1.94 valves..... they are capable of over 400 hp in a 350 if it's built right. The 1.84 doesn't flow enough though.

uhh thanks for that doc, but it doesn't really have much to do with anything in this thread now does it?

310 IROC - which cam do you have? I fear it is a piece of junk, but i'd like to be sure. Part number?

Also, why a holley 600cfm carb?
