delay not working on wipers, help

i did some searching and really didn't find any answers.

lots of posts but none are finished with solutions.

where should i start looking to fix my delay on my wipers?

i get low and the speed seems to be roughly the same when i switch to high

but no delay at all

any ideas one where to start looking?

relays? switches? where to buy a new wiper motor?

advanced auto coudlnt tell which was the delay they only had 3 or 4 terminal or 2 or 3 terminal ones and neither said which was the delay.

Re: delay not working on wipers, help

start with the delay circuit located on the wiper motor. there is a cover on the wiper motor with the washer pump as well. pull out the wiper motor (straight down, size is approx a roll of quarters). then disconnect the wires and take off the black cover of the motor. now, go to your parts store and ask them for a new delay circuit for your camaro. they will ask you a bunch of questions and you should end up with the same circuit board that you removed. when you re-install, make sure the little flywheel is located in the correct place otherwise it wont work at all. installation is same as removal.

if its not that, then its the switch on you tree and you need a new switch. its much easier to replace the circuit than replace the switch...plus its cheaper.

Re: delay not working on wipers, help

yes i already went inside. the flywheel thing didnt look in the right place when i took it off to begin with plus i couldnt get the lil stem to fit back in. i turned the wheel and it seemed too small to fit on the stem that rotates?

any tips on how to get the fly wheel back in place and do i need to remove the entire motor to put it back together? because i only took the cover off and left the wiper motor bolted in

Re: delay not working on wipers, help

that mechanical arm/stem that rotates inside for teh fly wheel- i was able to get that thing to move but it would go back and forth once and stop and i couldnt get it to stop mid way where it might possibly fit in the flywheel.

does it fit in or on a certain side of the fly wheel?
