Computer Controlled Camshaft

Does my 1985 LG4 305 in my 85 Z28 have a computer controlled camshaft?

The computer can't really "control" a camshaft, unless you are talking about variable overhead camshafts, like in some newer cars.

Do you mean the distributor?

In the sense that some aftermarket cams are called "computer compatible", it does.

Unless it was a Canadian delivered car.

Although, even then, it might have the same cam as US computer controlled induction engines.

What I think he's asking, and what I would like to know, is if we were to replace the cam, would we want to use a computer compatible cam?

The computer carb isn't extremely sensitive to the cam. The main issue is to avoid too much overlap, which can be handled fairly easily by not getting a cam with too much duration or too little lobe separation angle. Those things tend to confuse the O2 sensor.

The Comp XE series is pretty easily handled by the computer, for instance, even though they don't call them "computer compatible".
