Ignition cylinder problem maybe

i can turn my Ignition switch Cylinder with out a key in it but it is not moving the rod that goes to the switch. Do i have a bad Ignition Cylinder or did something get disconnected.

Before this happened the key turned kind of hard and then it didn't want to release the key if that help at all.

the spring in the pic broke just in case some else has this problem

i ended up swapping entire steering column for the same problem . fortunately i had one in hand . old column also had " loose tooth " syndrome so swapping them was a no brainer . still good to know there is a repair . thanks .
