305 to 350 TBI with the 305 heads
I have an 89 Camaro. The 305 has been swapped with a 350 truck engine, but it's using the same 305 heads.
I've heard others talk about changing the injectors if you go from 305 to 350.
What are the specific TBI injectors I would need? Does the throttle body or intake need changed?
The engine was swapped some time ago and it seems to run fine, but it does set a code saying there is a lean condition at the oxygen sensor.
Thanks!

Just go to autozone and get stock 350 injectors. The TB and pod is the same. 305 and 350 TBI intakes are the same. You should probably change the ecm or prom (check the sticky post), the ESC module and knock sensor.

also, how does it run with the 305 heads? thinking of using mine instead of the 359 truck heads

There is a knocking though. After it is warmed up, it has a terrible knock that you can actually feel if you are touching the engine, but it's been running like that since 2002, which is when it was rebuilt. Knocks the worst when you LET UP on the gas. Someone told me it could be a wrist pin from the overheating? The rod bearings are all new and everything was tight, so I don't know. I've had the RPM's up pretty high a few times and it never blew.
I didn't know you would need to change the ESC, but it already has a 350 knock sensor.
I want to tear it down again and perhaps replace the pistons and rods.
The 305 did come out of a truck, but they didn't know it was a 305. They should have bothered to look.
Besides the heads, the intake and exhaust manifolds are from the 305.

maybe the knocking is detonation from a lean condition due to the injectors being too small? could even be the spark control (ESC) screwing something up too. I heard the ESC was different so I double checked and the part #'s are different.

I'm not sure why it would knock worse when you let off on the gas though. It also doesn't knock as much when you put it in gear.
It's been doing this for 6 years. I imagine if it was a bearing, it would have blown by now?
Only does it after it is warmed up.
I'll check into the ESC and see if I can get a cheap used one. I wonder if you could just take a truck computer and use it or if the wiring would be different? Would be something to check into.
I just want a good running car that doesn't throw codes.

pretty sure the 350 truck ecm works, I've been shopping around and I see a ton of them on ebay for like 45 bucks.

I have another computer from a Caprice of about the same year. I was told it was from an 89, but I see no difference in performance and it still throws the code for lean condition. I am going to see if I can find used injectors somewhere because I don't have the money right now for new ones.
