Vacuum Leak help
Vacuum Leak help
My car has a 2100 rpm idle.. Ill make this short and simple.. What is causing this high of a idle? I know it can't be anything small.. Because then it would be at like 1300 or so.. If it isn't a vacuum leak then what is it?
Ill make myself feel like a total dumbass right now because the idle was fine until i started messing around with all the hoses and stuff.. Maybe i could have put a hose in the wrong place? LMK some main places to check out.. maybe even some pictures of a carb'd 305 engine

chack and make sure all of those stupid hard plastic vaccum lines are still good too, those things are notorious for becoming prittle and breaking.

Re: Vacuum Leak help
ok im guessing and hope you have a carb motor, and not CFI
take the air cleaner off, look on the very back of the carb, you will see a small vac port (port "N" according to the book) run a line from it to the vac sensor (im sorry it looks like its on the left side in my book, sorry i said right ealier
check all your other ports, if they dont have a line hooked up plug em, or fix em,there is a total of 5 ports on the front it look like
look under the hood their may still be a emission hose routing sticker under there use it to help

Re: Vacuum Leak help
Yeah.. Its carb'd
I went over everything today and got the idle down to about 1500 from the 2100 before.. Looks like im doing something right. lol.
Maybe i should mess around with the idle screw? I dont know where it is though. lol.

Re: Vacuum Leak help
its got a plug that covers it, look where the screw is (the threded part that touches the throttle linkage) if you look where the head should be you will see an indention, use a center punch, wack it with a hammer and then pry it out, then you go access to the idle screw
you may have a few more vac leaks causing it to idle high, i would check all vac lines

Re: Vacuum Leak help
Its going to hard to explain this.. ill take a pic tomorrow but.. I have 2 of these little tiny tiny tubes that have a 3-4 inch rubber tubing at the ends.. They are both free and i dont know where they go.. They are like little tiny plastic tubes. That could probably be a problem too. I got 1 going into the egr valve thats the same type and goes into the same place
