Speedometer needs to warm up?
Does this mean I need a new VSS? The time varies a lot. But sometimes if I put it into nuetral it will flip on but when I put back into drive it flips off. After driving for a while it ends up staying on even if I park and go inside come back to go somewhere it will work..... In the morning on the first start of the day it will work until I go over 15 MPH then just drop until it warms up. Help!!!

JT, can we assume you have a 90-92? If so, sounds kinda like you might possibly have a short to ground issue or a bad connection at the vss.

See you have the info in your sig now, good. Might want to jack up the car, disconnect the connector pigtail, put an ohm meter across the vss and check the continuity. If it tests full circuit, it's probably okay. Check out the wiring. Pay close attention to the wiring at the connector. Look for rubs or breaks on the insulation. One step further would be to disconnect the harness to the computer and the vss and test between the two connectors to ensure the (yellow and purple ) wirng is good. It's a hassle and takes about an hour or so but helps to establish that your getting signal to the computer.
If all that checks out and you still suspect the vss, you can always pull it and reinstall it. Not a hard job. Might be worth doing just to check the condition of the driven gear anyway... It should be fine. If it's not, well, you may have other problems...
Good luck. Keep us posted
