heads
ok i bought a set of camel hump heads ported and poshed and never used after its been ported and poshed. and i put them on my 383 stroker in my shop. well admiring my work when i notice that the heads have no holes for the alternater and power steering pump so what do i do? is there a braket that i can buy to fix this problem?
Re: heads
If all you need is power steering and alternator you do not need to drill the heads. The steering pump mounts to the water pump and the exhaust manifold bolt hole. The only one you don't have is the lower alternator bolt hole. What I did is make a bracket out of flat plate( alum. or steel).
What you do is start with a wide piece may be 4 to 5 in. Drill a hole in the
corner for a bolt that fits in the old front motor mount holes.
(between the fuel pump and the timing cover there is one on top of the other.)
Bolt the plate to the bottom hole. Then with the alternator mounted with the upper
bracket and the outer lower bracket position the plate so the lower bolt intersects the plate. Slide the bolt thru till it touches the plate, mark and drill the hole. All that is left is to locate the 2nd lower hole. The best way to do this is with a transfer screw. Take a set screw and put it in a drill and sharpen it on a bench grinder with the point in the middle. With the screw
in the upper hole mount the plate with the other 2 bolts. Then tap on the plate over the transfer screw with a hammer. Drill it out and cut the plate to a shape you like.
