Reseting Codes

I am having trouble reseting the codes on my 1986 IROC. The code reader will not reset them, I pulled the fuse to the ECM still no luck, the only way I have been able to clear them is to diconnect the battary, that's a pain. Do I need a new reader? Is there an easier way to cut all the power to the ECM so the codes will will reset? Any help will be appreciated.

Disconnect the battery is about the only way to do it that I know of. Theres also a connector on one of the battery cables that, I think, is the power to the ECM. I remember my L69 having something like that, anyway.

Yeah, check the positive battery cable for a couple of connectors. On my 89, they look like o2 sensor connectors. Disconnect them for a couple minutes and that will clear the codes. Those connectors are the main power for the ecm, or atleast one of them is. I just disconnect them both to clear my codes when I need to.
