Internal or External Balance?
My motor is a 305 TPI out of an 86 iroc. Is the motor externally or internally balanced?

Re: Internal or External Balance?
What would happen if an external flywheel was installed, just bad vibration?

Bad, engine-damagine vibration if you use the wrong one.
The terms externally and internally balanced have become polluted when describing 1 piece RMS blocks though. A "stock" flywheel could be described by some sources as internally and others as externally balanced.

The one-piece and two-piece rear main seal cranks have different bolt patterns. You can't simply bolt one type of flywheel onto the other type crank.
If you are referring to the car in your user information, you have an automatic transmission, which uses a flexplate not a flywheel, so it should have the weight welded to it.

Re: Internal or External Balance?
Im converting it to a stick shift and the motor is from an 86 so its a 1 piece rear main seal. Here is the flywheel that I bought, would it work or not?

Re: Internal or External Balance?
So even though its external, I can install it and not have any problems with it at all?

Forget about the terms internal and external for the 1 piece RMS blocks.

Alright, I just wanted to make sure that it would work without any problems.
