car wont crank when key is turned

92 305 tbi new starter new batt. new alternator. car wont start sometimes but later on it will start normal. i put i push button in, wire from the positive terminal on the battery to a momentary switch then to ground on starter. it works good when the car actually wants to start. but sometime the key doesnt crank the moter so i use the button and all it does is crank and crank and crank no start, and yes i have the key in the on position. what is the matter with my car, im sick of getting stuck some were

is it posible with my car to run a wire from the coil to a switch to the battery and eliminate the key axcepte to unlock the steering wheel. my friend seems to think it will work.

Sounds like a problem with the VATS system. You should try bypassing the chip on the key. Plenty of posts on the site that tells you how to do it. Is your key in good shape? What about the lock cylinder? Could be your problem.
