Got my 416's - Time to start parts list.
I need a good combo of parts for 416 heads.
I'll be running my lg4 bottom end, swapping the cam out for a lunati 60101lk (256/262 dur, .454/.468 lift)
I'm thinking about stepping the cam up to a 60102 or 60103 though.
Either way I'm going to gasket match and port and polish the heads myself. Whats the best option for springs? Are there any that can handle the .520+ lift without machining the seats?
Also what size should I up my valves to?

Go to 1.94/1.6" valves if you have the cash.
I had the 60103 for a bit. Ran great. Prepare to increase converter size and gears though, it's a big lumpy.
60102 would be good for a daily driver.
Don't by shy on the porting, get 'er done!
comp 981's work well. Use a spring mic, or digital calipers and the like to set them up, shouldn't need to cut the seats.

Now should i stick with 1.5 rockers or get myself some 1.6 to pull a little more lift out of the 60102lk? Is it the lift or dur or a combo of both that moves your rpm range?
Lunati 73943K1LUN
Thats the matching numbers for springs. How do i tell if those springs will fit my seat? Outside diameter? if so whats the max for stock 416s?

Re: Got my 416's - Time to start parts list.
You can use 1.6, it's your call.
I used 1.6 rockers on the 60103 on my 416s. No machine work done, just .050" offset locks.
duration effects your RPM range most. the rockers mildly effect your .050" duration. Apeiron explained how on this forum a few times... (i'm at work, so my answers will be brief here).
the springs are 1.266" OD on that package. 1.25" is what just about all factory SBC heads have on them. .011" is very small, will it fit? Maybe, maybe not. I would be fairly comfortable buying those, and a comp shim set, and a set of offset locks. Then assemble them yourself, shimmed up as tight as you can, for about .060" safety margin.

Re: Got my 416's - Time to start parts list.
I planned on porting them and then giving them to the machine shop for assembly unless I dive into alot of reading in the next few weeks.
having any links? I'm lost when you say shimming the seats and offset locks.
All really know about heads is basic porting.

Google it, I don't have any links offhand.
If you're letting a machine shop assemble it, then don't buy the kit just buy springs. Let them re-use your old retainers, and install locks as needed. This way they can mix/match (if they need offset on exhaust only for example...)
Grab some books. The vizard ones on SBC engines are great. I think I have almost all of them. There's one on heads and valve train, and i'm sure it explains valve spring shimming, and the methods to go about it. It's a really good bit of info to fully understand, ie what methods you have to shorten and lengthen your spring height, etc.
