My starter is covered in oil (making it hard to start sometimes) and oil is dripping off the pass side of my oil pan. I checked the valve cover gaskets and oil sending unit and they look fine. The intake manifold is dry too. Does anyone have any ideas.

Have you got a bolt in the hole in the front of the block where the smog pump used to mount?

Put a bolt with thread sealer into the lower hole. Make sure it's short so it doesn't interfere with the fuel pump drive.
thanks i will do that now.

The bolt should be in the upper hole. The lower goes to open air.Originally Posted by ak1059
