Without knowing what you are failing on specifically no.
Be sure that the engine is at operating temp when you have it tested. If you can lean out the mixture and retard the timing that helps on carbed engines. Unless you have a prom chip burner you can't do anything about the mixture. Not sure on a fuel injected car if retarding the timing a few degrees will do anything.
Other then that just general maintenance. Spark plugs, cap and rotor, plug wires, O2 sensor, air filter, PCV valve, fuel filter, etc, etc. I wouldn't just go out and replace these things, but inspect and replace as needed.

Run it down to a couple gallons and put in a couple bottles of "guaranteed to pass". Just alcohol really.
