only places i know of are behind the passenger side strut tower, or behind the intake manifold near the distributor, more on the drivers side or so.

Look there and see what you can find

I looked both places and can not find it. Does anyone have any picture of what it looks like?

It's the flat module that is with your relays on the driver side. It bolts to the bracket and has about 4-6 wires coming out of it. It's flat and the mounting screws are off-set.

I was under the impression that the speed density TPI had the EST built into the ECM - but, I could be wrong.

You could be right. I forgot that year was speed density. Haven't worked with many of sd systems.

I think you the EST is in the ECM since I can not locate in normal spots. What are symtoms if ignition module dies?

if the module dies it will crank like crazy but you wont hear it try to fire. It sounds real smooth when cranking and cranks a bit faster.
