Losing My mind!!!!

Ok guys heres the situation...355 SR Vortec motor.. Using the Davis Distributor and Livewires from the same company.. They claim you can run a bigger spark plug gap, but Im not sure if thats such a hot idea. Should I stick to the gap specs of .35 or should maybe run a little higher at .40.. Davis says with their setup I can run up to a .50 if desired but I believe that thats jus a general claim with them. HElp Me please..
