Has anyone dropped in a motor with headers attached?
I would like to put the headers on while on the stand and drop in in if its possible.
I know you need to jack up the motor when its in the car to install them....
I have the Headman 1 5/8" shorties (part no. 68470) with no coolant lines at all or any heater or A/C box.

Shorties should go in. Long tubes won't.

I figured the LT's wouldn't and the shorties would be close. Does the fact the motor needing to be jacked up (if still in the car) play into anything?

If the left side header slants forward it will not go in with the motor.

See picture in my vBGarage. That's the way it looked just before it went in.

N/M
I see the pass header on but cannot see the drivers side. Was that one connected as well?

Yes, both sides were attached. I even had the spark plugs installed so I wouldn't have to hassle with that after the engine was in.

Re: Has anyone dropped in a motor with headers attached?
I did it with those exact headers a few months ago. I did it alone, with a trans attatched. Aside from the fuel line just behind the pass side strut tower that I crushed, it wasn't too bad. Would go alot better with help though.

I'll give it a shot, what can it hurt, right?
The only thing that got me was, at least with my Headman's, I had to jack up the motor on the drivers side when the motor was still in the car.

I did it with those headers.
Need to remove the steering rod, and be very careful of the power brake MC. Otherwise you're laughing.

But yes, be very careful around the brake MC, it gets very close to that 600lb anvil you are swinging around, and it would only take a small hit to f*ck it all up.
