Broke Rear Rubber Fuel something?

Was doing my steel braided earls 3pc set, doing the rear, there is this plastic ball with a rubber hose going to it attached to the bracket holding the fuel line at the rear center. I broke this off, now its just open rubber hanging, i smelt it, kinda smelt like gas but it was not wet and is not leaking. What is this? and should i replace it? Thanks for any future replys!
I post a pic tomorrow when I change my rear fluid.

Mine isn't a ball, it's more like a small black canister with a white top. This is a remote pressure/vacuum relief valve. It's the only device on my car in that area, but it may not be what you described.

As fuel is drawn out of the tank is allows air in to replace it (while maintaining a slight vacuum). If it just broke free of the mount, but is still in one piece you can probably just tie wrap it up there.

You can either leave it off (if you don't need to pass emissions and the fumes don't bother you) or buy a new one from GM. Someone on here found the p/n and posted it here a couple months ago.

Re: Broke Rear Rubber Fuel something?

I live in great old California but i didn't see the emission guy look at that area on his walk around.

Can Fuel come out this line if my tank is crammed fuel of fuel and i turn fast?
In the summer does this relieve the pressure from expansion ?

Just a few questions but i think ill replace it. Thanks for your help!!

He probably connected a device to your fuel fill though. I'm pretty sure you'll need it to pass CA emissions.
