Are These Alternators Any Good?
I suspect that my alternator is in the very early stages of having the diodes fail. I'm not completely sure but I've ben pricing just in case.
I'm looking at the alternators that summit has going. They look nice. I'm not a big fan of chrome because of It's tendency to flake and pit but I figure It's just an alternator, something that needs to be replaced every few years so it should be fine.
Only thing that I'm scratching my head about, is the quality of the units. I see both the powermax and the summit brands (I do NOT want a reman unit) and they look good but I'm scratching my head on the quality of a 100 alternator in the $100 ~ $150 range.
Are these units reliable?

My brother bought a 100amp black summit alternator for like $80 (sale times), and hasn't failed him yet, or shown any problems.
But starters give him problems....haha. No matter the brand.
