Combo Help...
Hey guys, I have an 89 IROC with an 86 LB9, I already put a cam in it 420/442, its getting 1.6 rollers which will bump those numbers to 448/472, a custom PCM For Less chip, and 3.42's. My plan for the future is a mild 355 or 383 and I want to put things that will benefit the 305 but be able to transfer over to the swap. I know this has been beaten into the ground but I want heads that will work on the 305 as well as what ever I build. I was looking at http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
They have a 56cc chambers I believe my 416's have 58, so my CR would jump up a little(anyone know what?), and 1.94's. My question is with a complete gasket match from the heads to the plenum with high flow runners will they perfrom well? Or am I better of having my 416's cut for 1.94's and ported? My next question is will those TF heads be able to support around 380-400hp with a good port and the 1.94's? I really wanted to go 2.02's but I know they will not fit the 305. I just want to see what I can do with the 305 while the new motor gets built. Sorry for the long post, any info is appreciated. Thanks, James.

Yes the TFS small chamber 305 heads will work very well on your 305 and will transfer well onto a future 350 or 383 as long as you keep the "high torque" concept.
You don't need a 2.02" valve for that.
The 170cc ports flow enough to support well over 400hp on a 350 or 383.
Simular to the idea of the Edelbrock ETEC 170 but with a small chamber and a conventional SBC port height.
