clicking?!? need help!
clicking?!? need help!
i have a 84 z28 camaro and when i start my car it turns on fine and then when i start to press the gas pedal something starts clicking in the engine and also when i drive it, it goes really slow?? is it the push rod being bent??? everything happened after i went through a puddle of water, and a pepboys mehcanic told me that it was either my cam shaft shattered or the push rod, but evrything is normal except the idling and clicking. can anyone help??

Give us a better idea of how and when this started.
Had the engine been run at high RPM just before this began?
Are you getting a SES light?
How are the temperatures and oil pressure?
What makes you ask about it possibly being a pushrod?

well everything reads to be fine, its just that it idles up and down constantly and everytime i press the gas it starts clicking and and goes very slow, some mechanic at pep boys said it was either my cam shaft is shattered or a push rod is bent so thats what i was told. it happened after i went through a puddle of water.

The key here is the water you went through. Like most problems that suddenly appear, if everything is working fine then an event occurs just before the problem starts, the problem is related to the event. So, your event was driving through the water.
Based on what you posted, I don't suspect a valvetrain or cam problem. Most likely has to do with water getting into some part of the electrical system, a sensor, module, coil, distributor, etc.

anyone bother to not jump to the worst case scenario and stop to check if its the exhaust manifold having a minor leak? makes a clicking noise? sound familiar?
