clutch clicks

I have a 1990 RS 305 with the standard t5 tranny in it. The clutch feels a bit stiff, it always has, well stiffer than the ease of the ford focus clutch i learned to drive on, but anyway when i put it almost all the way to the floor while shifting it sometimes makes a clicking sound and i can feel something move in the pedal, all this occurs without taking out of gear, but merely by depressing the clutch. It rarely does this, usually only when it's very cold. any help is appreciated
