lt1 questions...........
I was wondering if anyone knows if using a gen1 style block with fastburn heads and lt4 intake would work with the dual sync distributor, and if anyone knows of a build, if it does work then wouldnt a 434 lt1/4 be possible?

Re: lt1 questions...........
LT1/LT4 intake won't work on a Gen 1... bolt pattern is different, no distributor hole, and no coolant crossover. It would take alot of work to convert it to work on a Gen 1.
Why not just use a HSR manifold? Its a similar 'tunnel ram' design to the LT1 intake, but designed to work on the Gen 1... that would solve alot of your problems.

Its my understanding that this intake will work on these heads or can be modified to. I guess the real question is will the dual sync work in place of the opti? That way no matter what intake head combo you use, the opti is gone allowing an aftermarket block?

Re: lt1 questions...........
The intake can be made to physically bolt on to Gen 1 style heads, but theres still no coolant crossover and no distributor hole in the back. There are ways to fix these problems, but it isn't cheap. You really would be better off with a HSR manifold IMO. You'll spend alot less and have a better working part in the end.
As for the distrbutor, I don't know anything about a dual-sync distributor - never heard of it - so I can't help you there. But the Optispark can't be used on a Gen 1 engine - the LTx block and cam timing system had special design modifications done just to work with the Optispark distributor, and they can't be done to a Gen 1 block.

Re: lt1 questions...........
Dual Sync is the FAST performance stuff. Doesn't matter if it's FAST, MSD, Mallory - whatever. It's a drop in distributor that would require a hole in the rear of the intake. As Adam said, not present on the LT1 intake.

Re: lt1 questions...........
Ok, lets get off the combo of heads and intake, the main thing is can a dual sync be run in place of opti without any other changes to LT1 specific electronics, will it "jive" together? Or does it only work with the FAST system? The main point here is being able to use aftermarket block with conventional style distributor in LT1 camaro/firebird....... Is their any other way to run without opti?

Re: lt1 questions...........
A Gen. I block doesn't care what kind of ignition system gets run on it. I'm not an LTx guy so I don't know about the other stuff. Gen I block and normal SBC-type castings does not make it an LTx. It's an SBC.

Re: lt1 questions...........
you can make a vintage version of the Lt1(the original)
350 4bolt block
5.7 pink rods
steel crank
11:1 pistons
camel back heads 2.02 1.60
solid lift cam
as for a new style EFI version it will not resemble the 92-97

Re: lt1 questions...........
The LT1 block can use a Gen 1 style rear distributor if you have an intake with the hole in it. All the provisions and machining to the block are already there, and the LT1 camshaft does have the gear on it (The LT1 basically uses the bottom half of a traditional distributor to drive the oil pump.)

I like the way you think, if you wanted to go even farther back, give it a 3 inch stroke!
