Buying LT1 600 bucks?
Hey guys i went to see this LT1 today it is pretty nice. It was out of a 93 firebird that some one wrecked. It had 130,xxx miles on it the he did a rebuild kit and replaced the pistons and rings, and all the bearings and stuff. He has all the reciets for everything. He has brand new motor mounts he said he didnt think mine could be used on it. He wants another 50 for them he has the ECU ( dont know wat that is) then the computer and wiring harness. It also has the aluminum heads on it. He has everything from the firebird even the smog pump and stuff. He said he would even let me keep this nice engine stand that lets it turn and it got wheels to move it easyier. This is all for 600 bucks do u think its a good deal? If i buy the motor it will be in the next couple days so i need help fast. Then how much power can i get from it? If i would do a good tune, hot cam, bigger injectors, mabey a bigger throttle body, and a good headers/ exsaust? Will that put hopfully mid to low 300 rwhp? Then with a 2800 stall? What do you think i would run in a quarter mile with something like that? Sorry for the long post just trying to say everything at once lol.
thanks

If it's a complete LT1, that's probably a good buy. What are you waiting for? Someone else to beat you to it? Stop dreaming about how much more power to make with it. It's not yours yet!

I mean do you think it is a good deal i think so. He said he has like 2 grand in it. He showed me the paper on the rebuild kit that he got from summit racing and that was 600 alone. Then he said he paid 700 for the motor.

For fun, check out Golen engine's line of LT motors.
http://www.golenengineservice.com/ that should at least give you some idea of what can be done with the LT line of engines. At the least, a cam and head swap will put you in with the LS circle of players, if that's your thing?

Thats a cool website. I just wonder how much a engine shop around here would charge me for porting and polishing the heads and stuff. So how much money do you guys think would it take to make it a 350 rwhp engine?
thanks

Sometimes, better things DON"T come to those who wait !! Next time, don't think, DO !! I have an LT1 short block and top end set up if your interested ? Make me an offer. I had the top end fully rebuilt, 29 lb/hr fuel injectors, polished fuel rails, all new sensors, etc. I was about to start on the short block rebuild, but got my hands on a Complete LT1 for $500 !! I didn't even hesitate on that deal !! let me know, it will be on ebay within 2 weeks if I get no inquiries here.
