A stock or stock replacement coil should be fine.

Re: ? about coil for 85 Z28

where is it at anyways? I had the stock disty in. I am using the old disty from the 350 and using a non-ccc and deleting the computer. Is the coil built into the Disty? Usually there is 9 wires on the disty from what have seen before. 8 for spark plugs and one in the middle that goes to the coil or ignition not sure. There is no plug on the top just for spark plugs.

Just something I have little information about. And was told I needed a new coil if I was taking out my computer and running it caveman style.

If it's a large-cap distributor (all the non-CCC factory ones are), it's under the cover on the top of the cap.

Ok. Is there anything else that will affect the computer not being in there anymore or anything else I will have to change from changing from cc to non-cc?

Not as long as you've got a manual transmission.
