engine tapping
i just installed a electric fuel pump, and blocked off my mechanical pump. now it has a tick or tapping noise. i removed the pushrod for pump and everything. any insite on it?

Idk, the I've heard of cams warping before, maybe the pressure on the cam from the pump was keeping the cam from tapping.

find out where the noise is coming from first, you can even use a stick by your ear to help locate if you do not have a stethoscope.

im thinking it my oil level, its way low so that might be why

Did you find out what was going on? I am getting a tapping sound from the engine when I reach high RPM.

I've ran a smallblock without oil on the stick at all(oops) no ticking or tapping til I spun a rod bearing and the piston started slapping the head.

it only stared making a tapping noise when removed the mechanical fuel pump.
