Cold start injector questions
My CSI is leaking profusely from where the fuel line exits the rail. I replaced the coolant sensor on the front of the intake manifold since the housing that accepted the connector was broken. Would the CSI not be getting fuel because that sensor wasn't properly connected? And now that I replaced it, the leak is occurring? Should that sensor not being connected throw a code? Or does it signal anything else, like the guage or anything else that is dependent on its input?
I'm thinking that if my leak was always potentially present but not apparent because there was never a signal from the sensor to the CSI, I could just block it off and be fine even without an '89 program. That connector has been broken for 6 six years and I've never had a problem starting the car since it is only a nice weather, weekend driver. I'd like to have the CSI working properly, but if its been inop for the past 6 years with no ill effect, I'll just delete it (but I don't want to go through the whole computer thing) and move on.
Insights appreciated

Re: Cold start injector questions
I'd have to say in your case, since you only drive it during nice weather, I'd suggest just buying the CSI blockoff kit and deleting the 9th injector altogether. From what I've read in past message threads here, it doesn't trigger a code or affect the way the car runs, so you shouldn't have any issues by removing it. The last time I looked, Accel and I think possibly Edelbrock both offered the block off kit. I just made my own block off kit on the last pre-89 TPI unit I had. I just tapped some threads into the fitting on the fuel rail and installed a small, stainless pipe screw in there with some liquid thread sealant. Then I made a plate for the hole in the runner, and drilled a hole in it to attach it to the runner bolt, and used some rtv to keep it sealed.

Re: Cold start injector questions
Thanks - I wound up finding the correct place for the o-ring and found the fitting into the rail a little loose. It has stopped the leak and the CSI now works. I suspect that since I've only just replaced the sensor that I had a non-functioning CSI for the past 6 years. It didn't affect cold starts. At least it works as it should now - which I usually find to be preferable. Thanks for the input.
Re: Cold start injector questions
Right on. Sounds like it was a really simple fix overall. Yeah, I don't blame you, if you can keep it functioning properly, I'd leave it on there too!
