GLOWING HEADERS AT IDLE
GLOWING HEADERS AT IDLE
ok, my stainless steel-ceramic coated headers are glowing at idle, i have a 25 degrees of timing at idle, (due to the aggresive camshaft) and an A/F ration of 14:1, from a cold start it takes about 20 minutes or better for them to heat up and glow, i have a brand new engine, heres what it has listed below:

Make sure that your timing set is ok and put in the correct position.

Re: GLOWING HEADERS AT IDLE
new engines run very hot. i dont know if your heades are new but you should not run newly coated headers with a new engine.
they usually recommend breaking in the engine with old exhaust systems - to make sure not to overheat them.
once the engine is broken in, then put the ceramic headers on.
i dont know why but that is the way it is.

I agree, happened on my Cherokee and made the carpet matting smolder and eventually the floor that was overheated turned into a nice big rusty hole. Even dried out the gravel where I pulled over to see what the heck was happening!
