Just wanted to double check one more time..

ok.. so i just wanted to double check with the guys that know on this board one last time before ordering the parts... i have that 350 in my camaro that was meant for a TBI truck.. now according to what some members told me in the past if i go to change my cylinder heads it doesnt matter if the motor was meant for tbi, tpi, or if it was meant for a chevy truck or chevy car.. all that matters is that its a 350 and all cylinder heads listed for 350 will work... just wanted to make sure this is correct and if so if anyone can suggest a modestly priced cylinder head... thanks

What induction and cam are you using?

What will the car be used for?

Yes, induction means TPI, TBI, carb, etc.

If you're going or staying with TPI, '87-up had a different bolt angle on the center two intake manifold bolts. Most heads are '86-earlier style, which had them all at the same angle.

'96-'99 truck 350's were Vortec heads, which have a completely different mount bolt arrangement and intake port location.

Most factory 350 heads before 1986, and all truck 350 heads before 1996, were junk.

You can "fit" most any head on a 350, but after that there are a lot of details that need to be understood. Your question was much, much too broad.

Re: Just wanted to double check one more time..

What types of things need to be known to choose the "right" set of heads and cam? Like I said there isnt much I know about cars.. I know that I have a truck engine that was meant for TBI however I have TPI. I have an Edelbrock Intake Manifold Baseplate, Edelbrock runners and well thats about it. The truck specs are BODY,.aolmailheader {font-size:10pt; color:black; font-family:Arial;} a.aolmailheader:link {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;} a.aolmailheader:visited {color:magenta; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;} a.aolmailheader:active {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;} a.aolmailheader:hover {color:blue; text-decoration:underline; font-weight:normal;} 5.7L, V-8. It is a 2-bolt main, has a cast iron crank, flat lifters, 8.5 compression, and approximately 190 hp.

Re: Just wanted to double check one more time..

well the edelbrock parts will hook up fine, the only concern i'd have like five7kid said would be the heads, you need to choose a good head that flows well and match the cam with it, you really have to research it though because you cant just slap a random new cam in there and expect it to be better, sometimes having too much airflow can really hurt performance
