Marine vortec heads?
A friend that works at a local machine shop has a set of vortec heads for sale for a killer price. He said they came off an engine that was in a boat. I am pretty sure marine blocks are different and they have bigger water ports/jackets.
Are the heads any different? I am going to stop by tomorrow and get the numbers off them.
I did a search but really didn't turn up anything.
Thanks.
Jason

Re: Marine vortec heads?
I work on Mercury outboards, but I am fairly familiar with their stern drive applications. Usually what Mercury Marine does with their engines when they get them from GM is they just install heavier duty components, such as better valves, and non corrosive gaskets (head gaskets are stainless). Obviously the engines have different camshafts in them, since most OE marine V8 engines only rev to about 4500. Because of this, the valvesprings in those heads probably will not work with your application. As far as that I don't know of any other casting differences.

Re: Marine vortec heads?
Disregard. They weren't vortec heads.
