my iroc will not start.....it only starts with the emergency starter what can it be everything works fine i just cant start it with my key any clue??

 

What's an emergency starter?

 

I'm guessing it's the button attached to a long cord that you hook up to the starter directly. Is there a fuse or a fusible link between the switch in the column and the start that could be fried?

 

screwdriver you jump the terminals on the starter with

id check between the starter and ignition cylinder. use a test light and start prodding the wire from the ignition cylinder until you find connectivity then work backwards..

ie. say you start at the column and find nothing, but you go further down and find power after the ignition switch, BINGO, bad switch get it? you need to find where the power is being cut off, im guessing its there because if you can run the starter its obviously hooked up right, but you cant run it with the key, trace it from one end to the next and find the culprit in between

 

hmm i found out the previous owner had a kill switch and it dis connected so thats why it would not start

 

Well that did not work the car threw code 43???
