TPI FUEL PRESSURE

i jst got my new 350tpi camaro a few weeks ago and decided to check the fuel pressure the cars seems like its running pretty good but it says i have 34psi and when i squeezed the return line with dikes it jumped all the way up past 90psi so this means the fpr took a **** right also if i do buy an after market fpr what should i set it to and what kind of gains could i expect

Re: TPI FUEL PRESSURE

34 psi is normal. Try removing the vacuum line to it and then see what the pressure goes up to. It should go up to about 42 or 44 psi. When you squeezed the line and the pressure shot up, that is normal too.

Any of the aftermarket fuel pressure regulators are pretty good. You have to adjust the pressure yourself and see what the car likes. 44 to 46 psi is a good place to start.

Re: TPI FUEL PRESSURE

You will probably not see any performance gains at all on a stock motor. I would keep it right around 42 psi with the vacuum line unplugged.

Re: TPI FUEL PRESSURE

If the car is all bone stock, then a fuel pressure regulator wont give you much benefit. But yes you start at 42 psi and run the car on a dyno or at the track, and then keep raising the pressure until the car stops making more power.

Same with your timing. Set it at the stock 6* and raise it to 8* or 10* until it stops making more power, then back off.
