Ignitions switch removal/replacment help

Hey guys, my 91 Lo3 bird has had starting issues for a while. ive replaced the battery, and starter recently and it still wont start all the time. my next step is to swap out the ignition switch. what the car has been doing is sometimes i'll turn the key and it'll fire right up. somtimes i get nothing not even a click. but if i continue to turn the key off and than to start over an over it will fire up. and somtimes the car will turn the engine over really slowly like its in slo motion but it usually fires up. Anyone with tips or advice on removing/replacing the ignitions switch would be really appreciated. has anyone else run into a similar problem what was your solution? thx in advance.

You know what I have that same problem, so can you PM if you do replace the ignition and PM to let me know if it worked?

I replaced my friends ignition on his 91 Camaro cause the fool lost the keys, and I by passed his vats also, I had to try different resistors to find out which one would work .. turned out my 2 try worked !!

anyways I told Him I would replace his switch if he let me use his car as a ginny pig for my first time swappign ignitions on a car with an Airbag. He agreed. if you have a steering wheel puller GREAT !!! if not go rent one at Oreilys or someother parts store. Disconnect the battery .. undo the torx screws from behind the wheel these hold the airbag. put the pulled on the Nut and extract the whell out. Make sure if you can to have your wheel straight and your tires straight so that way you can center it when you put it back.

once you get the wheel off your gonna have to put pressure inwards to push the plate back so you can take a ring off the shaft ... once these are taken off replacing the switch is a piece of cake. good luck !!

If you rent a wheel puller, also get a lock plate depressor. It threads onto the steering shaft and has two arms that will press the plate down. You can get the plate off without one...but I doubt you'll get it back together without it.

Also a harmonic balancer puller will work to pull the wheel, just need the correct bolts.

i got it back on w/o that depresser. just push down hard and use a screw driver to set the clip in. doing that is run it around and it will click in.
