my 1988 camaro TBI is startin to run rough. i took off the air managment when i put headers on it. it has full new exhaust. i know the car is runnin a little leaner now that the air management is off. so maybe that could be a problem. i installed a rebulit racing 700r4 a year ago. has about 1000 miles on it. the engine has a little over 200,000 miles on it. nothing done to it. just oil changes, cap and rotor, e3 spark plugs and wires. idk why it is runnin rought all of a sudden. any advice would be good. please help.

 

When you removed that did you plug all of the vacuum lines good? ALso make sure your firing order is correct, its really easy to swap a wire to the wrong spot and that will make it run rough.

 

the wires are in the right spot. and i didn't have to plug any lines. it just all of a sudden started runnin rough when i was drivin

 

describe rough, it'll be easier to find the problem

 

just started runnin rough. way less power. felt the engine runnin rough when i gave it throttle. i took of the rockers and took out the pushrods. none were bent or had flat tops. they were just corroded. could it be a valve? i heard a ticking noise so i thought it was a rod. but they seem fine.. i'm thinkin valves.

its not the cat. have had my stock one go out and i know what that sounds and feels like. a potato gettin stuck inside lol. not the cat. valve maybe?

 

did u do this b4 or after it was running rough? if u did this before, did u properly adjust the valves when u reinstalled all of the components under the valve cover? (just an idea)

ok , is it making any weird nose? or just running funny? does it sputter, stall or is it hard to start?

 

fuel pump and or fuel filter maybe going out...
