ROARING REAREND ?????'S
I'm thinking of getting a 2001 Camaro SS with 65K miles on it and the owner says that the rear end is ROARING,I think I read somewhere that these rearends roar a lot,is this normal if so or not what is the problem with them and the fix?THANKS

you should ask about that on a 4th gen site... but as a 4th gen owner myself no the rearend shouldnt be "roaring" that isnt normal... normally a sign of damage or inproper setup due to previous damage... notice the damage comes up alot however it shouldnt be to expensive to fix properly... but it means it has been beaten as these rearend tend to hold up to quite a pounding

if the price is good, go for it. But assume the rear will have to be replaced or repaired.

I have a rear end from a 2000 SS. It howls when I'm cruising. Goes away on throttle lift, and goes away when I'm accelerating. I'd always assumed it was abused in it's former life behind a cammed LS1....
Worst case, you can find these rear ends for anywhere from $200 - $400.
