Fuel Sending Unit for 87 Sport Coupe
Need a new sending unit, and I'm not sure which one I need. I have found a unit from an '88 TPI car, will this be the same as my '87 LG4? They look a little different, but my sender is old, rusty, and probably a bit mangled. Will this unit fit my car?
Am I correct in my assumption that there were two different sending units
1) early 80's without intank pump
2) later 80's/90's with in tank pump
or were there many different types of units throughout the third gens lifespan?

I think that will fit yes. I have just done a TPI swap on my 87 LG4 Camaro.
I changed my intank fuel pump to a TPI fuel pump from Warlbro.
The pump was just a little bit to big for the bracket but with some very small modifications I make it fit.
So I think you would be fine with that 88 sending unit
Actually the sending units are very simple and should be the same on every 80's camaro's with an intank pump. It is just basically 4 fuel lines that goes in to the tank. One return that goes all the way to the bottom of the tank. One feed line that goes to the fuel pump that is mounted on a small bracket. A vapor fuel lines that goes down to the tank and just a Vent line....
