new intake and carb, no kickdown

i have a 350 crate motor still stock and i put a performer eps intake and 600 carb on it, we got it running and took it for a spin i realized my kickdown wasn't working so we adjusted the cable twice until it would kick down but it shifted into 3rd at 40 mph instead of around 60 where it use to and wont kick down on the highway, has anyone had this problem? i dont have much room for adjustment on the cable now but i beleive the q-jet before had a throttle positioning sensor on it that isnt on the new carb, if that is indeed what it is would that be the cause and what could fix it?

1) which carb?, and 2) did you use a geometry corrector bracket?

It says 700R-4 transmission by your avatar. 700R's don't have a kick-down, they have a TV cable. The transmission will be damaged if run without the TV cable set up properly so that the fluid pressure matches the engine loading.

Re: new intake and carb, no kickdown

I was assuming the OP really meant the TV cable.
