Finally dynoed 383 Super Ram - results
Well I finally got around to getting the 383 dynoed on a DynoJet and it put down 382rwhp and 425rwtq on the third pull (no NOS). I'm not running much timing but the guys suggest I add more timing and it should make 400rwhp. Take a look at my torque curve. I'd like to flatten it some. Also notice the squiggly lines between 2000 and 2500 rpms. The AFR drops to 10 right when he floors it. Otherwise AFR's are around 12.5. Any opinions and/or suggestions on this graph is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you have too much acceleration enrichment when you first punch it. Gotta take some AE out of it
Try leaning it out a touch more, closer to 12.8-13.0. Thats where my AFR's made best power. Also made best power around 34 degrees total timing. I tried up to 38 and saw no gains.
Alittle bit more tweaking there and you could maybe see 400whp which is GOOOD for that setup thats for sure
Also, are you bringing in max timing by 3000 or so rpm? if not you could maybe pick up a good bit of low end power just by giving it more timing in there

That's awesome! What did you do to the intake manifold to make that much power?

Why's it dropping off so hard just past 5700? May need something like AFR's HydraRev kit.

Re: Finally dynoed 383 Super Ram - results
I could never figure out total timing on a ecm controlled distributor. I know with a vacuum adv dizzy you disconnect the vacuum line and rev it to 3000rpms read the timing light for total timing but what about ecm controlled spark? Here's what the spark table looked like when it put down those numbers. Tell me what you think.
Are you still runnnig power enrichment and its spark advance table?
From your table i would hope so. I see you have 28 degrees in that table at peak and i think your PE spark adder table should have about 8 degrees in it for a total of 36 which aint bad.
But your lower rpm WOT timing numbers are low. Probly not getting full advance in by 3000 rpm.
What you want to do or atleast try to see if it helps power (i think it will) is to add timing to those 100kpa values from 3200 to 4400 rpm. Check your PE table and add those two table values together and see what you get.
Your PE table should be something like 4-5 degrees added between 3200-4400 and 8 degrees added from 4400 on up or something like that.
So make the timing at 3200 rpm, 100kpa map read like 29 or 30 so when it adds 5 degrees from the PE table, its now 34-35 degrees. Do that for all values above 3200 rpm.
OR the other way is to zero out the PE table and just permanently add in that timing to the WHOLE spark table.

If that is a stock Super Ram I'm impressed. Impressed anyways.
If you were to open up that Super Ram you would be into the 400rwhp range. Those AFR heads are good. By the way what camshaft are you running?

I really believe it should be willing to go 6500 as is. You've got plenty of cam and heads, and that intake was designed and intended to get 383s to peak at 6000.

I think the Nitrous Mastermind rev limiter was set around 6000rpms. Unless the guy might have hit it accidentally and set it lower.

Re: Finally dynoed 383 Super Ram - results
That timing table is MUCH better if you zero'd out the PE advance. Do some runs to verify your ecm is showing 36 degrees timing at wot above 3200 rpm. I think you just hit 400whp
I think your setup is well matched. I dont think the intake will support more than 5500 rpm on that 383 as is. That cam is just about done by 6000 anyway so its a good setup
