Longer answer: World or Dart, I forget which, makes a special block just for this. But without that new block, No.

LSx heads are totally different in every way than Gen 1 or Gen II heads - only similarities are that each head has 8 valves and the bore centers are 4.40" apart. Thats it.

Sorry if I seem like a d**k in my reply lol... was just my 0.02
I just don't see the point of spending that much on the block alone just so one can use LS heads, when an LS block will cost less and has all the benefits of the superior LS design. The Gen 1 is a good engine, but the LS is superior in every way. Except exhaust note lol.

No need to defend yourself, you didn't seem like a ****. I just hadn't considered it from that angle. All the 4th gen F-cars that came with the LT1 can obviously be easily converted to the Lsx. It's like a no-brainer. Same mileage, more power...

Re: Ls1 head in a Lt1
The one major difference, is that the LT1 cars can use all the parts from a donor LS1 car. The 3rdgen guys will have to visit the aftermarket for alot of components. In the end though, I would definitely say an LSx swap is a better route to go than trying to make LSx heads work on a Gen 1 or Gen 2 just because its a little easier to make the block fit in the chassis lol.
I stil think the exhaust note of an LT1 can't be topped by ANYTHING streetable you'll find in another modern day muscle car. I may be biased though lol.
Re: Ls1 head in a Lt1
At work we have 6 LQ9 service trucks, and the oldest one has an open exhaust, another one ended up with a generic muffler similar to the hooker one on my car (all of them have ridiculous engine hours due to the compressor mounted to the engine which keeps it revving at 2-3000 rpm and our jobs usually last about 2 hours, everything wears out stupid fast including exhausts. the stock mufflers basically turn into supersize resonators). the former sounds almost disgusting but the latter has quite the lovely note.
And that's just incidental, if you're actually trying to make it sound good better results are almost guaranteed.
