It randomly comes on, happened after I hit a curb and had to get the rear end replaced. I've already put about $7500 into it and only plan on driving it for 3-4 more months. Is this serious? Anyway I could check to see what the problem is?

 

If you dont know how to get and read the codes, drive it to a auto parts store that will read the codes for you. Most will do it for free and give you a print out with the code and problem.

 

There is the ADL ( automotive diagnostic link ) under the driver side dash. It is behind a small plastic cover. It will have 16 pins. 8 on top 8 on the bottom row. take a paper clip and stick both ends of the paper clip into the top 2 right pins of the connector. turn the key to the running position, the CE light will blink 1 time pause then blink 2 times . this will show code 12- ECM works. It will blink code 12, 3 times. then it will pull any other stored codes. Each code will read 3 times before moving on to the next code.

 

Both of my camaros service engine soon lights come on randomly, but they run fine. I think it's a way for GM to sell more needless parts. I am from old school; if it runs good, then why ***k with it?

 

To MAINTAIN running ability, mileage,etc. Sometimes, the codes are warnings.
Usually, you can head off a more severe problem by tending to a code right away.

 

My camaros are running fine, and it has the check engine light come on and off at random. They get great mileage also.. when I don't have my foot in it that is..
