Head & Cam help for L98
Hello everyone. I'm very new to the automotive scene. I purchased a 1987 iroc-z with 350 and was hoping someone can give me some help understanding the heads and cam.
The engine as of right now has K&N filters, ceramic headers, and a flowmaster 40 series exhaust. Now I would like to install a new set of heads and a cam to complete everything! The car is a daily driver but I'd like to get some more power out of it. Are there any headers and cams that I could just swap in without tuning? On hawks there are 22 different types of heads and I haven't the SLIGHTEST clue which ones are right for the motor I have...same with camshafts.
Does anyone know of any camaro related sites that can help me I understand the whole cc size and max lift thing? I'd like to learn more!
Thanks for those whole are willing to help a noobie!

You can get a whole bunch of information by searching right here.
If all you want is a little more power, you don't need new heads. The L98 heads are some of the better factory production heads available. An upgrade cam and valve springs would do wonders. The Hooker 2055HKR headers are made specifically for your application are are the best off-the-shelf headers available for our cars.
Above that, your TPI needs upgrading - the runners are too long and too small for a healthy 305, let alone a 350, the base and plenum are restrictive. The Holley/Weiand Steath Ram takes care of all three.
Perhaps then you could consider a head upgrade. Vortecs are a good choice, but require a different base than the stock L98 heads do. The Steath Ram is available in a Vortec version.
With regard to heads, "cc's" refer basically to two things: The volume of the combustion chamber (affects compression ratio - the bigger the combustion chamber, the lower the compression ratio, all else being equal); and the volume of the intake ports (the larger the ports, the more they tend to flow, but at the cost of low-end responsiveness). Exhaust ports can also have the volume quoted, but typically larger intake ports will also have larger exhaust ports, and the intake is the typical driving factor.
