Come on guys.. Help me out...I went to parts house to rent scanner. All they have is an Autoxray 2500. Does it read real time for sensors? I know I sound cheap but I am laid off and need to conserve cash..Whick scanner can I use.

Hi Flammed,
I know Autozone (at least over this way) sells 2-3 different type scanners, depending on what you want it to do.They will also pull a code for you for free.
Hope this helps

Went to OReillys and Advanced. All they have are for OBDII or code readers. I found a Autoxray 3000. Will it scan a 1992 Z-28 for real time sensor feedback ?
Re: Scanner.. Which one ????
Funny thing about most of these scan tools is, while claiming to simple to use, it's best if you're pretty technical. The Auto X-Ray 3000 is a pre 95' OBD-1 only tool that gives live sensor displays, but will cost you $$$'s for programming upgrades, if they're still availible. I have a model 6000, scans just about anything and upgrades at no cost. Nice 7 line live readout, too. These seem expensive, but e-bay prices are less than $300, about a dealer charge for an oxygen sensor replacement. Also notice most of the scan tools are marketed by SPX corp, from Actron to high dollar OTC units. Expect lot's of similarities.

With my bad eyes blinking lights/leds, and small displays are a PIA, I use the Moates ALDU1 and TunerPro RT on a LapTop I have run it on Win2000, XP, and now Vista with no problems. I also have AutoEnginuity for my OBDII vehicles, but scan rate is so much slower than TunerPro and you don't get all the data without paying for the Manufacturer specific module software upgrades.

Thanks for the info. For now a friend lent me a Snap-on that works good. I will purchase one later.

There's lots of info available to make your own cable.
Use with many free applications for windows.
Means having a laptop for on road use...but if it's just for at home....A cable can be made for a mere few $$$s.
I made mine for like under $8.
Mines can read O2 and temp etc from outside my house and the cable run in through the window to the pc.
Works a charm.
