Motors are designed to rev, free revving is alot less stressfull then when the motor is under load. As far as revving it when you first start it there is no problem there either. As long as you dont over rev a motor your fine.

alright.. yeah thats what i wanted to know.. somebody told me that reving the engine is bad. so i just wanted to know. and for reving when its cold.. dont u have to wait for the rings to expand first.. also i heard u could warp the cylinder walls if you dont let it warm up a little first.

5-10 seconds is plenty of warm up time. 20-30 seconds and your ready to drive. Some people with high compression and stubborn carb's have to rev the motor a good amount to just keep it running when its cold. Change the oil every 3000 miles, keep it mechanicly sound and have fun. If something breaks its more than likely from old age, then its an excuse to do something better.
